Abstract

The goal of this paper is to develop elements for a history of the voice
practiced in the field of Brazilian popular music. The concept of voice here is subsidiary of the construction of subjectivity, the voice as a gesture that turns individuals into a singing subject. The procedure takes as starting point the inventory of discursive differences, expressed in stories, anecdotes, commentaries and critical essays that approach the problem of voice in the history and formation of the popular singer from the golden age of radio to the present.
