The mythological, the tragic and the biographical in Rei Revés, by Evandro Affonso Ferreira

Abstract

This article analyzes how intertexts with Greek mythologies, classical Greek tragedies and the biography of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva compose the narrative of the book Rei Revés (2021) written by Evandro Affonso Ferreira. For this analysis, the main references were Linda Hutcheon's (1991) research on intertextuality in postmodern literature; the studies of Junito Brandão (1986; 2022) and Aristotle (2020) for a better understanding of the elements of tragedies and references to Greek mythologies; as well as the works of Sophocles and the biography of Lula to carry out a comparative analysis between these works and Evandro’s book.
