Abstract

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the cities of the Southeastern region of Brazil in the allocation of resources in the basic attention of the Brazilian health, in 2007 through 2010 period. One used indexes of efficiency of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology as proxy for performance, evaluating if it had alterations in the productivity of these cities. The variation of the productivity was measured by the index of Malmquist adapted for Ray and Desly (1997). Analyzing 1,097 cities, it could be inferred that the majority of these had presented reduction of the productivity in the allocation of resources in the basic attention in the Southeastern region of Brazil.
