Criticism aimed at Institutional Theory (IT), undermine especially against its methodological weakness. It is noticeable that his functionalist base, does not provide adequate methodological apparatus, the research in the area, which limits their contributions to the development of knowledge in Organizational Studies. Despite the paradigmatic differences between functionalism and interpretivism, the propositions of Burrel and Morgan (2006), this paper proposes the approach of both, through the use of phenomenology as a methodological resource for the study as part of IT. The central assumption is that phenomenology as methodological tools, can enhance the results in the field of IT, as it gives it greater ability to subjectively their analyzes. The study is qualitative, the theoretical test model, descriptive nature. It was concluded that there are points of convergence between the two lines of thought, which makes it feasible and desirable, the approach of phenomenology as a methodological tool for IT.Downloads
