Alimentação e eugenia: Reflexões de Gilberto Freyre e Aleixo de Vasconcellos na década de 1920

Abstract

A proposta do artigo é analisar algumas das perspectivas observáveis no Brasil da década de 1920 relativas aos temas da eugenia e da alimentação. Para tanto, são comparadas as idéias defendidas por Gilberto Freyre (1900-1987), em contraposição às do cientista Aleixo de Vascocellos (1885-1961). Estudo comparativo que evidencia os processos criativos, críticos, seletivos, e originais de apropriação de teorias científicas, na forma como foram revelados por cientistas e intelectuais brasileiros.
