Abstract

Logo no começo da obra, o leitor percebeque nela não encontrará os jargões tradicionaisque rondam as refl exões sobre o temada violência, muito pelo contrário, o que o livropretende é fazer uma análise da violência e doque a gera a partir de outra perspectiva, tantodando um passo para trás quanto a mirandomarginalmente: “Minha premissa subjacenteé que existe algo inerentemente mistifi cadorem uma confrontação com esta [a violência]:o dominante horror pelos atos violentos e aempatia com as vítimas inexoravelmente funcionacomo uma armadilha que nos impede depensar” (p. 3-4).
