The Russo-Ukrainian conflict and the ethics of war of Augustine and Aquinas

Este artículo analiza la justicia de la guerra ruso-ucraniana desde la perspectiva de los teóricos de la guerra justa, Agustín y Tomás de Aquino. Agustín de Hipona, en su ética de la guerra, creía que la guerra es tanto una consecuencia del pecado como un posible remedio. Tomás de Aquino examinó el tema de la ética de la guerra, enfatizando la importancia de la naturaleza humana y el bien común. Algunos académicos argumentan que la teoría de la guerra justa se ha vuelto inadecuada debido a la aparición de las armas nucleares, mientras que otros continúan aplicando su marco a problemas contemporáneos, incluida la guerra con drones. En este artículo, exploraremos cómo Agustín y Tomás de Aquino pudieron haber considerado la guerra ruso-ucraniana, considerando los criterios de guerra justa que aceptaron, así como los que surgieron posteriormente. Además, examinaremos la relevancia de los arsenales nucleares, los drones y la OTAN para evaluar la ética de la guerra en las obras de Agustín y Tomás de Aquino.
