The Russo-Ukrainian conflict and the ethics of war of Augustine and Aquinas

Dieser Artikel analysiert die Gerechtigkeit des Russisch-Ukrainischen Krieges aus der Sicht der Kriegstheoretiker Augustinus und Thomas von Aquin. Augustinus von Hippo vertrat in seiner Kriegsethik die Ansicht, dass Krieg sowohl eine Folge der Sünde als auch ein mögliches Heilmittel ist. Thomas von Aquin untersuchte das Thema der Kriegsethik und betonte die Bedeutung der menschlichen Natur und des Gemeinwohls. Einige Gelehrte argumentieren, dass ihre Theorie des gerechten Krieges aufgrund der Entstehung von Atomwaffen unzureichend geworden sei, während andere ihr Rahmenwerk weiterhin auf zeitgenössische Probleme anwenden, darunter den Drohnenkrieg. In diesem Artikel werden wir untersuchen, wie Augustinus und Thomas von Aquin den Russisch-Ukrainischen Krieg gesehen haben könnten, wobei wir die von ihnen akzeptierten und später entwickelten Kriterien für einen gerechten Krieg berücksichtigen. Darüber hinaus werden wir die Relevanz von Atomwaffenarsenalen, Drohnen und der NATO für die Bewertung der Kriegsethik in den Werken von Augustinus und Thomas von Aquin untersuchen.
