Third mission in undergraduate curriculum in brazilian universities: characterization and concerns

The implementation of third mission in undergraduate curriculum of the Brazilian university, established by National Education Plan, 2014-2024, is in its initial phase. Third mission in Brazilian universities has been in a transition from marginalization to massification of activities to students. In order to reach both the aims of university´s student capacitation and the ideal of the relation among teaching, research and social engagement through student´s actions is necessary to have a precise definition and a more specific characterization of university´s third mission. The objective of the present article is to propose characteristics of university´s third mission in order to guide formulation of programmes and projects in accordance with the intention of the Education Plan. There are also the statement of some obstacles that university´s courses have to endure in order to achieve the objectives of third mission in Brazilian university.
