This work aims to report the experience of the extension course “Phonology and teaching of Portuguese as a native language”, held between June 20 and July 21, 2022, fully online. This course was proposed by the Núcleo de Estudos em Fonologia – NEFONO, with support from the Academic Department of Vernacular Letters of the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR), together with the Academic Master’s degree in Letters from the same institution. With this extension, we seek to discuss the relationship between, Phonology and teaching of Portuguese as a native language, considering the link between orality and writing in student’s texts, fragments of popular written Portuguese, internet texts, comic books, etc., in order to indicate the relevance of these studies for the description and interpretation of written records that do not follow orthographic conventions, in addition to contributing to the formation of the Portuguese language teacher.
