Atención dental a pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica en fase previa al trasplante: propuesta de protocolo

La atención odontológica de los pacientes con Enfermedad Renal Crónica (ERC) en la fase previa al trasplante contribuye a la estabilización de su estado de salud general, ya que reduce el tiempo de estancia y reduce las posibilidades de problemas dentales posteriores. Esta es una revisión narrativa de la literatura para proponer un protocolo de atención dental para pacientes con ERC antes del trasplante. Se realizó una búsqueda en PUBMed Central con los términos: "crónica enfermedad renal" Y "trasplante" Y "odontología", de 2010 a 2023. Esta búsqueda (que se realizó en 2017 y se actualizó en 2023) dio como resultado 798 estudios. De estos, inicialmente se eligieron 38 que involucraban atención dental pre y postrasplante. Para la construcción del protocolo se eligieron 28, de los cuales 11 fueron publicados en los últimos 5 años. El resultado fue el desarrollo de un protocolo de atención para el Proyecto de Extensión “Atención Odontológica para Pacientes con ERC” que puede ser utilizado por otros proyectos similares o programas de extensión.
