Abstract

This Editorial presents a brief history of the relationship between neoliberalism and teacher training, curriculum development and academia in Chile. The history of Chilean teacher training is presented, from the colonial era and the first steps of independence to the present day, in which the conception of teachers as lacking is maintained, to whom 'training' is offered to make up for those supposed needs. Curricular changes, from the dictatorship to curricular updating, are also discussed. In the end, the effects of Neoliberalism in the Academy are analyzed from two aspects: hyperagency and productivity.
