Abstract

Search for life in the Universe is between the most important science projects in XXI century. The goal is to detect contaminants of biologic activity in the atmosphere of earth-like planets. The first step is developing instruments able to image such a small object up to tens of light-years. This requires a revolution in telescope technology, what can be reached in a decade from now. Whatever will be the outcome from this search, it will be the first
time Humanity will be tackling this subject on the basis of data, leaving behind the era of mere speculation.
