Luiz Augusto Ely é aluno de doutorado junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), área de concentração em Estudos Linguísticos, vinculado à linha de pesquisa Linguagem e Práticas Sociais e sob orientação da Profa. Dra. Lígia Negri. Atualmente, recebe bolsa de estudos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES).
