Analysis of f0 variation in tonal anchor groups of the Rede Globo: a comparative analysis with anchors of the Rede Record and SBT

The present study aims to verify the variation of the melodic curve of the anchors of Jornal Nacional from a comparison with the speech of anchors of SBT Brasil and Jornal da Record. For this, we selected videos from the news, extracted the audios and, at the same time, we selected the Tonal Groups (GTs) of each anchor. In Praat, we analyze the relative fundamental frequency of each GT extracted at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the GT. After extracting the relative F0, we applied the Kruskal-Wallis Anova test in order to verify whether the anchors had specific F0 curves. The preliminary results show that the anchors of Jornal Nacional almost always start their speech by going up to F0 at the beginning of the GT and going down at the end. On the other hand, there is no pattern in the speech of journalists from Jornal SBT Brasil and Jornal da Record.
