Sowing among the ashes of the National Museum/UFRJ: memories and narratives about the colheita

Abstract

After the fire at the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the reconstruction of the collections became an imperative challenge for all Sections, especially the one that concerns the Section of Memory and Archive of the National Museum (SEMEAR). The purpose of this article is to examine the process of construction of the proposal of the Colheita system in the light of Social Memory, more specifically, to identify how the emotions narrated by a participant are imbricated in the conception of the proposal. The corpus of this article is composed of analysis of narratives by the technician responsible for the system, which are part of a research interview, from the perspective of Interactional Sociolinguistics, whose categories contextualization and footing clues anchor the aforementioned theoretical-methodological contribution. The analytical work shows, on the one hand, how emotions are circumscribed in memory, on the other hand, how they guide the narrative flow of evoked memories.
