O processamento sintático na demência do tipo Alzheimer

Abstract

This paper explores the bypotbesis that the progressive development of Alzheimer disease may play a role in the deficits of syntactic processing observed in various patients. It first reviews the literature on Alzheimer disease and its impact on several cognitive capacities. Next(i) it presents a brief overview on syntactic processing, (ii) it reviews evidence supporting the relationship between Alzheimer disease and syntact processing, and (iii) it argues that the cause of deficit of syntact processing may be related to the working memory system. Finally, suggestions for further studies are discussed.

Cassio Rodrigues, UNIBAN - São Paulo - SP

Graduação em Letras Alemao/ Portugues- Bacharelado Tradutor pela UFSC (1994), mestrado em Lingüística pela UFSC (1997) e doutorado em Psicolingüística pela RUB - Alemanha (2001). Realizou um Estágio Pós-Doutoral (2003) no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Lingüística da UFSC. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto da UNIBAN, sendo Membro efetivo do Programa de Mestrado em Reabilitação Vestibular e Inclusão Social.
