Abstract

This text observe how the newspaper Gazeta do Povo (Curitiba) addresses environmental public policies during the period 2000 to 2009. The policies are the result of the attention that the government provides for certain topics and the need for a large number of people, in which case the environmental theme was highlighted from the last decades of the twentieth century, when the environmental problems brought to the attention of society . In this scenario, the media act as a space for debate, where we can see to what extent it gives the public discussion on the subject and also as a way to schedule the public sphere. The paper presents empirical data that allow you to observe what the most common themes and moments in which development of these actions the media gives more attention and makes the cover. The initial hypothesis that guides the work is that the themes do not appear in a balanced way and the media coverage has also fragmented, addressing the issue only as a means of disseminating the government agenda and not the debate preceding the establishment of policies and in its assessment.
