Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the interests of Internet users who access information sites. For that, we use data on the most searched news in Brazilian's five major news sites - UOL, Terra, G1, The Globe and Folha.com. The collection of this material occurred during the election period of 2012 and was replicated in the same period of 2013, year no election. Is discussed, compared, changes and maintenance with regard to the themes of the news and features that were the most read of the day these media analyzed in both periods. It is considered important to identify what kind of information draws attention of users in this space, under the assumption that news characterized as softnews (entertainment, celebrity and sports) offer little substantive to add to the debate, while hardnews (health, education, politics, violence, minorities, etc.) highlight issues of public interest. Altogether, there were 1,929 entries from 2012 and 1806 of 2013.
