Frame Analysis researches’ method construction

Abstract

This article exposes the Frame Analysis methodology apllied to the communication research titled “Privatizing the opinion: a study on framing in magazines Veja and Carta Capital”. It discuss the framing types (news and interpretative frames), also the choosing of content analysis as a research tool, and the others methodologic options for the quantitative and qualitative analyses. This paper’s main conclusion is that there are no set methodological standards for Frame Analysis communication researches. It is necessary to identify the frame type one will study and, in accordance with the research’s goals, construct the suitable method using the tools available (such as content analysis).
