Abstract

Journalism in the digital environment has tried the limits of the narrative on the web, with creative and contextualised structures to tell stories that contribute to "semantic innovation" (LEAL, 2014). The article reflects about the narrative in journalism and resumes the evolution of the narrative in the digital environment from the generation first, the transposition (MIELNICZUK, 2003), to the concept of hypermedia and use of database. The objective is to understand the role of longform narrative (JACOBSON; MARINO; GUTSCHE, 2015; LONGHI, 2015; LONGHI, 2014; DOWLING; VOGAN; 2014; SHARP, 2013; MEYER, 2012) in hypermedia report, highlighting its characteristics. We analyzed three news reports, one from each newspaper: New York Times/EUA, Público/Portugal and Folha de S. Paulo/Brasil. Among the considerations, we emphasize that the longform narrative has guaranteed the use of potentialities of the digital environment, becoming a product with its own characteristics, which encompasses the concept of hypermedia.
