Abstract

What are the main strategies and methodological guidelines in postgraduate studies in Journalism in Brazil? The recent resumed, with only 10 years of registration, of the postgraduate course (stricto sensu courses) in the area still reveals one of the difficulties and limits of consolidation of the field of research. This article presents the results of a mapping of the themes and methodological strategies that guided the dissertations produced in the first four - year evaluation period (2013-2016) of the Master’s Program in Journalism of the Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG) located in Paraná. The study discusses conceptual references (GROTH, 2011; PONTE, 2005; TUCHMAN, 1983; MEDITSCH, 2012, among others) that already point to limits in the improvement of specific strategies capable of better understanding and enabling investigative actions. In characterizing the national postgraduate scenario, the text also highlights the limiting conditions in which new programs - although not exclusive in Journalism - record to design minimum goals of consolidation and fortification of research in the area.
