Abstract

The Brazilian political landscape has changed drastically in recent years. João Doria Junior, mayor of São Paulo, Nelson Marchezan, mayor of Porto Alegre and Jair Bolsonaro, a federal deputy and presidential candidate in 2018, have become relevant political actors, and it is no longer possible to ignore their presence in the public space. The objective of this work is to analyze the dispute between political actors and the media in the construction of the image from the transformation of the social spaces with the new technologies. We understand that the transformation of facts into spectacular political events is only feasible when there is confluence of interests of the media and the political field. The concepts of Guy Debord on the Society of the Spectacle, Maria Helena Weber and the studies on public image are discussed in this work.
