Qualidade da informação: análise da cobertura jornalística sobre transgênicos
Abstract
This article handles the empirical part of master’s degree dissertation that we made about the quality of journalistic information. We analyzed and interpreted secondary data linked to the press coverage of the transgenic foods subject in 2004. The content analysis method was applied to a sample formed by 213 pieces of news of newspapers: Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, O Globo, Jornal do Brasil, Correio Braziliense, Gazeta Mercantil and Valor Econômico. This study allowed us to verify the low quality of press coverage analyzed here, mainly for the questions of public interest. We conclude, however, that the quality of the journalism does not depend of its transformation in another kind of knowledge, but of the involved professional and organizational choices in the process of social mediation and construction of the news.Downloads
