A critique of the organicist conception of disability: contributions to an anti-ableist and Anti-capitalist struggle

This article provides a theoretical and critical analysis of the organicist conception of disability, understood as an expression of bourgeois rationality and the productivist logic of capital. Grounded in historical-dialectical materialism, particularly the contributions of Lev Vygotsky and his theory of sociogenesis, the study articulates authors such as Canguilhem and Durkheim to demonstrate how people with disabilities have been historically normalized standardized by biologicist and positivist criteria, ranging from the pathological to the normal. By reclaiming the epistemological limits of the organicist conception, it proposes a broader conception of disability, centered on a critique of ableism and the capitalist mode of production, reaffirming the development of human diversity as an expression of the tensions of social contradictions.
