The perversity of mundialization: a critical essay to the Reform of the State
Abstract
One of the central aspects of reordering and expansion of world capitalism concerns the reconfiguration of the capitalist State, mainly in periphery countries, where not even social democracy can consolidate itself. This scenario presupposes the aggravation of social issues, in which whole populations progressively lose the space of right and citizenship and the diverse manifold faces of violence gain larger proportions. Fiscal austerity policies are reinforced simultaneously with policies of privatization of the strategic public sectors of greater market profitability. Without any claim to exhaustiveness, this essay aims to highlight some elements characterizing the different conceptions of State Reform, focusing on the basis for its explanation: the transformations in the production world. The alteration in the forms of world accumulation of surplus-value requires a new profile for the State, strenghthened for the interests of the possessing classes. Attention is also drawn to the revolutionary possibilities pointed out by some authors, contributing to the strenghthening of utopias.
