Abstract

The article aims to discuss the relevance of interdisciplinarity for studies in Environment and Society, as provides a crucial framework for its development, both in the international and Brazilian context. The article focuses on the debate about sustainability to show the different and fruitful dimensions of interdisciplinarity. Author Biography

Leila da Costa Ferreira, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

possui graduação em Bacharelado em Ecologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1982), mestrado em Sociologia pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1986) e doutorado em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1992). Atualmente é - Ambiente e Sociedade (Campinas) e professor titular da Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Tem experiência na área de Sociologia, com ênfase em Sociologia Ambiental, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: sociologia ambiental, sustentabilidade, interdisciplinaridade, questão ambiental e teoria social.
