Frames of protest: debates and challenges to the interpretative framing for the study of social movements

Abstract

This bibliographic essay aims present the main characteristics, potentialities, limitations and research agendas of the framing perspective applied to the social movement studies, since the Brazilian studies on this area dedicate little attention to this framework. Following this intention, it is proposed an analysis of the paper selection edited by Hank Johnston and John A. Noakes, entitled “Frames of Protest”. This book gathers several studies that explore the contemporary reflections to which social movement framing scholars are dedicated. In this book, both potentialities and limitations of this framework are visible.
