About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Política & Sociedade is a quarterly publication of the Graduate Program in Political Sociology of the Federal University at Santa Catarina. It is dedicated to the promotion of previously unpublished articles, reviews, translations and bibliographic essays about issues and problems of political sociology and related disciplines. The journal selects its content for publication guided by the criteria of academic quality and social relevance. It emphasizes pluralism and an exchange of ideas, with contributions welcomed from researchers from Brazilian and international academic communities associated to a wide variety of intellectual traditions in the social sciences and to different research programs in the realm of political sociology.

Peer Review Process

The original articles, essays and reviews submitted to the journal are initially read by the editors who, if they find them to be in keeping with the journal’s editorial policy, and comply with the imperative academic requirements, will be sent for evaluation to at least two specialists in the field, with a guarantee of anonymity to the authors and reviewers.     

Publication Frequency

Quarterly basis. Numbers: January-April, May-August and September- December.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate and free of charge access to its content, based on the principle that providing scientific knowledge to the public free of charge allows for greater global democratization of knowledge.

Qualis CAPES 2013:  B1 (areas of Sociology and Urban and Regional / Demography Planning).

It also remains classified as B2 in six areas: Economics; Education; Interdisciplinary; Political Science and International Relations; History; and Administration, Accounting and Tourism.

Digital Preservation

The Política & Sociedade Journal is concerned with ensuring long-term access to its content. In case any incident occurs in the serves, the digital files of the journal are preserved in the Rede Cariniana, using the LOCKSS program. LOCKSS creates a file system distributed among the participating libraries, which allows them to create permanent files of their journals for preservation and restoration.
