Logic, Science and Philosophy from the Husserlian Criticism of Psychologism

This paper examines the relationship between logic, science, and philosophy through Edmund Husserl’s critique of psychologism, with particular emphasis on the Prolegomena to Pure Logic and its role within the broader project of the Logical Investigations. It contends that Husserl’s defense constitutes a decisive epistemological intervention aimed at securing the objectivity, necessity, and a priori status of logical laws. By situating Husserl’s position in the intellectual debates, the analysis highlights the central distinction between the ideal and the real, showing how the purification of logic from empirical psychology underpins a rigorous conception of science and opens the path to phenomenology. Finally, evaluating the Husserlian framework’s significance, the paper indicates the husserlian relevance for contemporary discussions on logic, epistemology, and the foundations of scientific knowledge.
