Para além do gênero: mulheres e homens em engenharias e licenciaturas

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar discursos de homens e mulheres estudantes de engenharia e licenciaturas na UTFPR e na UFBA sobre os motivos de suas escolhas pelos cursos que realizam. O estudo faz parte da pesquisa de pós-doutorado que investigou as engenharias e licenciaturas das duas universidades sob a ótica de gênero. A pesquisa foi dividida em duas etapas, uma quantitativa e outra qualitativa, sendo a etapa qualitativa realizada a partir de entrevista virtual. Os resultados apontam para o fato de que muitos são os fatores que interferem nas escolhas de homens e mulheres. Dentre eles, destaca-se a influência familiar e de professores/as, a expectativa de remuneração e, principalmente, a vontade própria. Os diferentes motivos alegados pelos/as estudantes dos cursos analisados não estão relacionados
exclusivamente ao gênero. As próprias características dos cursos, não necessariamente associadas a estereótipos de gênero, assumem papel relevante nestas escolhas
