Midwifery and Nurse-Midwifery Education: Old Problems or New Possibilities?

This paper presents the historical transformation of midwifery and nurse-midwifery education in Brazil from the 19th century until recent experiencies of training nurse-midwives as a graduate course in obstetrical nursing. It discusses the education models of these professionals in other countries and presents a proposal for midwifery education integrated into nursing schools.Downloads
