Methodological-Political-Theorical Reflections on a dying, becoming and being born a Teenage Transvestite

Abstract

From a survey on teens transvestites in the city of Campinas, this paper aims to reflecton theoretical, policitical and methodological issues that involve the theme of gender andsexuality in contemporary society. It will be valued the need to deepen the study on the conventionsand social norms than on focusing the individual him/herself. The subjective and bodily questionof the researchers in contact with their interlocutors is also approached, and the scientificneutrality in ethonographies involving trans experiences will also be problematized. In addition,the queer thinking and dilemmas that involve the production of the situated knowledge will becontextualized.

Tiago Duque, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

É graduado em Ciências Religiosas e Ciências Sociais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (PUC-Campinas), mestre em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) e doutorando em CiênciasSociais na Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Tem experiência com Educaçãoe desenvolve atividades, projetos e pesquisas com as temáticas de sexualidade, gênero,direitos humanos e prevenção às DSTs/aids.
