Le statut discursif du doublage. Le cas de Troupe d’élite doublé en français

Resumo

Dans cet article, j'aborde le doublage dans la version en langue française du film Troupe d’élite, de José Padilha, 2007. Mon intérêt est de toucher à la matérialité du processus discursif mis en place par la voix du narrateur. Dans le domaine de la traduction audiovisuelle, je veux observer comment l’alternance entre deux façons d’insérer la voix dans l'énonciation filmique est une contrepartie matérielle de glissement du discours qui traverse l'acte de donner un autre corps vocal à l'image du protagoniste. On va prendre la voix comme expression linguistique articulée à des éléments prosodiques qui, au plan de la syntaxe, interagissent en produisant un certain rythme énonciatif, ce qui conduit la direction du sens au long du film. Pour cela, je me tiens à l’élocution du narrateur afin de saisir les marqueurs du vocatif, très présents dans la version originale et supprimés dans la version doublée en français. En prenant le cas du film Troupe d’élite, on entend montrer comment les altérations prosodiques attribuées au doublage peuvent devenir le reflet d’un processus discursif échouant comme fil conducteur de sens de la narration filmique dans la version originale.

ABSTRACT

In this article, I discuss the dubbing into French of the movie Elite Squad, by José Padilha (2007). My interest concerns the materiality of the discursive process put into place by the voice of the narrator. Departing from within the field of audiovisual translation, I wish to observe how the alternation between two different ways of introducing voice into a filmic enunciation constitutes a material counterpart of the discourse shift that traverses the act of ascribing another voice to the image of a protagonist. I consider voice as a combination of linguistic expression and prosodic elements that, in terms of syntax, interact with each other and produce a certain elocutive rhythm that directs how meaning is conveyed throughout the film. In order to achieve that, I focus on the narrator's manner of speaking and aim to capture the markers of the vocative used by him, a constant presence in the original that is omitted from the dubbing into French. By dealing with this subject in the movie Elite Squad I intend to show how the prosodic alterations introduced into the dubbing of a movie may reflect a discursive process that fails to be the conveyor of the meanings of the cinematic narrative of the original version.
