Communicative purpose of the gameplay genre

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the gameplay genre, focusing on its communicative purpose, based on the theories of Swales (1990), Bhatia (1997) and Bakhtin (1992). Using the tools of ethnography for research in the digital ecosystem, the methodological path used is characterized as netnographic. As a method, netnography allows for an in-depth exploration of online interactions, enriching the understanding of the gameplay genre in the specific context of the game mentioned. As a corpus of analysis, the study focuses on lives related to the game "Blox Fruits" and their interactions in chat. The research showed that both the presumed interlocutor and the empirical interlocutor are important for the construction and maintenance of the gameplay. It is believed that this investigative work can contribute to the understanding of the gameplay genre and to research whose objects of study are part of the digital ecosystem.

Doutoranda em Linguística pela Universidade Federal do Piauí - UFPI/ Linha de Pesquisa: Variação/Diversidade Linguística, Oralidade e Letramentos; Mestra em Educação Inclusiva pela Universidade Estadual do Maranhão - UEMA / Linha de Pesquisa: Inovação Tecnológica e Tecnologia Assistiva ; Graduada em Letras - Português pela Universidade Estadual do Piauí; Especialista em Língua Brasileira de Sinais - Libras e Docência do Ensino Superior pela Faculdade Evangélica do Meio Norte - FAEME; Especialista em Linguística Aplicada ao Ensino de Língua Portuguesa pela Faculdade Santo Agostinho - FSA. Professora efetiva - Secretaria Estadual de Educação do Maranhão. Tem concentrado pesquisas em Educação Inclusiva e Tecnologias Digitais na Educação, Multiletramentos e Gêneros Hipermidiádicos.

Francisco Alves Filho, Federal University of Piauí

Possui graduação em Letras pela Universidade Federal do Piauí - UFPI (1990), mestrado em Letras pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco - UFPE (2000); e doutorado em Linguística pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (2005). Desenvolveu projeto de pós-doutorado na UNICAMP (2009-2010). Atualmente, é professor Titular da Universidade Federal do Piauí. Coordena o Núcleo de Pesquisa CATAPHORA - através do qual orienta pesquisas sobre letramento acadêmico com foco na escrita de projetos de pesquisa. Atualmente, está desenvolvendo também pesquisas sobre Pareceres de Periódicos. Foi membro do Comitê de Assessoramento Técnico-Científico do PIBIC/UFPI e do Comitê de Pós-Graduação (UFPI). Foi subcoordenador do GT/ANPOLL de Linguística de Texto e Análise da Conversação (2010-2012). Atualmente, é membro efetivo do GT/ANPOLL Gêneros Textuais e Discursivos. Publicou o livro Gêneros Jornalísticos: Notícias e Carta de Leitor no Ensino Fundamental, pela Editora Cortez e coautorou a coleção de livros didáticos Projeto Carnaúba, voltada para ensino de leitura e produção de textos no Ensino Fundamental. Tem experiência na área de Linguística, com ênfase em Teorias de Texto, Análise de Gêneros, Gêneros Acadêmicos e Escrita Científica. Foi coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras (PPGEL) durante 4 anos (2013-2015 e 2018-2020).
