“Teve aqui uma borboleta que fugiu logo”: o brincar e as relações com a natureza

Resumo

As crianças das sociedades ocidentalizadas contemporâneas costumam ter pouco acesso a espaços públicos naturais, e suas experiências escolares costumam acontecer dentro de salas e muros, o que está intimamente ligado a uma visão dicotômica que separa os humanos da natureza. Na confluência dos estudos críticos da infância, novos materialismos, pós-humanismos e epistemologias ecológicas, olhamos para as experiências de uma etnografia realizada com crianças que frequentavam um projeto educativo “na natureza”, no norte de Portugal. Através da observação participante e do brincar com as crianças, buscamos perceber como elas se relacionam com a natureza, como suas brincadeiras/culturas afetam e são afetadas pelos encontros com a variedade de seres vivos que encontram no seu dia a dia. Ao olhar para esses encontros memoráveis, percebemos que, para as crianças, essas dicotomias podem não fazer tanto sentido assim.

Renata Soares Motta, Universidade do Porto

Renata Motta is a Brazilian educator with a specialization in Early Childhood Education (PUC-Rio), Psychologist (UFPR), having completed her Master's in Educational Sciences (FPCEUP) in 2020. Currently, she is an Educational Sciences doctorate student at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences – University of Porto.
While her master’s research explored the children/nature/education inter-relationship in a private “outdoor” Early Childhood Education institution, her present investigation interests rest with Critical Childhood Studies, New Materialisms, Ecological Epistemologies, Decolonial thinking, and the way children and the more-than-human who share the borders of natural conservation units can materialize different childhoods and ‘natures.’

Kindergarten teacher since 2000, who worked in many contexts, with many types of children, families and pedagogical teams.

Maria Manuela Martinho Ferreira, Universidade do Porto

Manuela Ferreira is Associate Professor at FPCEUP and permanent member of CIIE. In 2002 she achieved the PhD in Education Sciences (specialisation in Sociology of Childhood) at FPCEUP. Her research interests include socio-historical construction of childhood, children and youth cultures, gender and childhood studies, diversities and intercultural education, family dynamics and qualitative research methodologies with/about children. She has been leading the specialisation in ‘Children, Education and Society’ of the Master Programme in Education (2003-2019). Director of the Undergraduate Programme in Education (2018-2023). Coordinator of the collaborative research ‘Children and Their Education on Policy, Academic Production and Training Programmes in Portugal, 1995-2005’, funded by the Portuguese Research Funding Agency; researcher in the Project "Curriculum, Politics and Culture" [Curriculo, Politica e Cultura - 2016-2018] coordinated by Isabel Menezes (FPCEUP/CIIE) and Elisabeth Macedo (UERJ/Brazil) funded by FCT/CAPES 4.4.1.00/2854; coordinator of the Portuguese team and researcher of the ERASMUS + Project "THRIECE - Teaching for Holistic, Relational and Inclusive Early Childhood Education" funded by EC, reference 2017-1-IE01-KA201-025698 (2017-2020), and co-coordinator of the Research Group "Ethnography and Childhood" [Grupo de Pesquisa Etnografia e Infância] recognized by the CNPQ - Brazil [/dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/3628204044478516]. She has a strong collaboration and mobility activity with Brazilian researchers and institutions.
