In Brazil, several research efforts have been done to understand the Management field of study through bibliometric studies. However, these analyses do not consider the quality of publications, but the amount. To avoid this bias, this study proposes to analyze the landscape of publications from Management, through the perspective of quality papers. For this, we used as sample 123 award winning papers of ANPAD congresses (2004 to 2012). The characteristics of these quality papers are: major awarded educational institutions are located on the South-east axis of the country; great part of authors who receive multiple awards, get them from different academic divisions; the proportion of papers written in foreign language is higher among the winning entries; most quality research studies have empirical and quantitative basis. It is suggested that award winning papers can point out quality research production as a complementary to quantity indicators in a performance evaluation system.Downloads
