Abstract

This Paper presents the main results of a recent research on Supply Chain Management within the Brazilian Automotive Industry. The research aimed to study how the different forms of configuration of the Automaker’s Supply Chain influence the organization forms of production, the performance measures and the innovations in the Supply Chain Management. The research involves an automaker, two first tier suppliers and two second tier suppliers and it has been conducted through interviews with executives of those companies involved with the logistics, purchases and production areas. The study shows mainly that the recent structural changes within the Brazilian Automotive Industry have implicated directly in the coordination forms and innovations in the Supply Chain Management.

Mario Sacomano Neto, UNIMEP - Piracicaba - SP

Possui graduação em Administração de Empresas pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (1996), mestrado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999), doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2004) e foi visiting scholar em Ciência Política - University of Chicago/EUA (2001). É professor do Programa de Mestrado em Administração da Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba e pesquisador da Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Atualmente conduz uma pesquisa junto a Fundação de Apoio a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP). Tem experiência na área de Administração e atua nos seguintes temas: análise das redes de empresas, cadeias de suprimentos e logística, formas de coordenação, estratégia, estratégia em marketing e teoria das organizações.

Silvio Roberto Ignacio Pires, UNIMEP - Piracicaba - SP

Possui graduação em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1983), mestrado em Engenharia (Engenharia de Produção) pela Universidade de São Paulo (1989) e doutorado em Engenharia (Engenharia de Produção) pela Universidade de São Paulo (1994). É pós doutorado pelo IMD (Suiça) e Instituto de Empresa (Espanha). Foi professor do programa de pós graduação em engenharia de produção e é professor titular do programa de Mestrado Profissional em Administração Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba. Tem experiência na área de Gestão de Operações/Produção, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: gestão da cadeia de suprimentos (supply chain management), gestão da produção e logísitica.
