Managing a city requires considering social, environmental, political, economical and legal issues. The instruments of the administration and of the information technology are fundamental for the city managers in their routine and strategic actions. The objective is to analyze the municipal planning and the contributions of information technology in the management of city halls and in the development of nine cities. The methodology of the research emphasized one study of a multiple case through a protocol. The results showed the difficulties of the city halls in the organization of the city data, in making available the data and in the planning with the objective to control and manage. The conclusion confirms the relevance of aligned municipal planning, integrated and based on the information systems and the resources of the information technology, making it evident the participation of the inhabitants in the municipal management and in the development of the cities. The contributions are directed to the cities researched, the academy and to other cities that may establish analogies.Downloads
