A triple objective was assumed in this paper: (i) to identify the most influential aspects of Brazilian scientific production in the field of Finance; (ii) identify the main research streams followed by Brazilian researchers; (iii) propose some questions for future work. It was based on a qualitative and quantitative approach, using methods: "bibliometric analysis", "text mining operations based on machine learning" and "systematic literature review". The results show 2,197 articles in our bibliographic portfolio, between 1977 and 2018, distributed in 406 journals. The Brazilian researchers that relate in some way are inserted in 20 clusters, and are influenced, above all, by the Modern Theory of Finance. Three main research streams were identified: “Macro-Finance”, “Behavioral Finance” and “Capital Markets”. Issues related to “Financial Literacy” and “Capital Market News Effects” have been proposed as emerging themes for future research.
