Abstract

Understanding difficulties of similar meanings is a natural outcome of globalization process. Culturally conditioned interpretations are unavoidable in economic and organizational present time context. In this article we consider meanings of fortune and hazard concepts and the consequences of disregarding differences between the two ideas in Anglo-Saxon and Latin management cultures relationships. We argue that that neglecting this differentiation brings intercultural management, planning and logistics harmful consequences.

Hermano Roberto Thiry Cherques, FGV - Rio de Janeiro - RJ

Possui graduação em Administração pela Fundação Getúlio Vargas - RJ (1973), mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1990) e doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1999), pós-doutorado pela Universidade de Paris (Sorbone Nouvelle). Atualmente é professor titular da Fundação Getúlio Vargas - RJ.
