Abstract

Using very simple one-dimensional kinematical concepts, the necessary conditions to avoid car accidents in routes, specially frontal collisions, are examined. Using as characteristic distance the longitude of the yellow lines, we propose reciprocal problems. The first one is which might have been the minimum L longitude of  the lines, when the permitted speed is given and the actual speed of the vehicles, while in the second we offer, what should be the exceeded speed when L is a data, as it happens actually. As a practical example, data obtained in argentinean routes are shown.
