Physics teachers’ discourses about the Science lab: heterogeneity and intertextuality

Abstract

In this paper, based upon Ducrot’s, Maingueneau’s and Authier-
Revuz’s ideas about discursive heterogeneity, we discuss the
results of an investigation which identified relationships between
utterances by Science teachers and researchers in Science
education. Results suggest parallels between views expressed by
subjects from these two groups and discuss the role of teaching
experience, readings and interactions that take part in teacher
professional development in teachers’ conceptualizations of the
laboratory in Physics teaching.
