Abstract

We have analyzed the reality concept embebed into the problem of observation, emphasising the ontological aspect, inherent to all natural phenomena. This question is shown to have always intrigued quantum physics researches in their attempts to include the observer participation in the evaluation process of experimental data and, thereby, to obtain a broader description of the reality. Here, we follow the Pauli´s ideia in seeking a unified vision of reality, highlighting how the occurrence of individual events possesses an irrational character similar to that one attributed to the denominated archetypes of Jungian psychology. The adoption of an abstract, non-rational, nature entity in the quantum mechanics laws, as in the case of the wave function, is considered to support the suggestion that it is possible, through a psychophysical parallel, to take into account the influence of the observer into the physical reality description.
