Discussions about the Nature of Science (NOS) are relevant to forming teachers in scientific disciplines. In addition to supporting the construction of a more authentic image of scientific work, it allows the implementation of more critical and reflective approaches in teaching practice. However, researchers diverge on "what" and "how" to teach NOS better. In this context, the so-called consensus view on NOS has increasingly faced criticism regarding its form and content. Although it is possible to identify studies that analyze each of these criticisms, attempts to group them in such a way as to build a general view of the subject are scarce. This article presents a systematization of the criticisms attributed to the consensual view on NOS and NOS tenets in the Brazilian literature on science education research. We analyzed 37 articles published in prominent journals and the five critical frameworks frequently cited by the authors. We identified 13 main criticisms, which were organized into three dimensions (categories) according to the observed focus: A) Problems of Pedagogical Instruction (04 criticisms); B) Epistemic Problems (04 criticisms); and C) Problems of Selection of NOS tenets (05 criticisms). One observed that the citations of the authors concentrated in categories A and B. Based on the results obtained, one can conclude that this debate will be long, as it still requires empirical evidence, discussion, reflection, and argumentation by supporters and critics of the consensual view of NoS and NOS tenets.
