CALL FOR PAPERS - Active methodologies and language teaching.
The Linguistic Forum Journal, published by the Graduate Program in Linguistics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and available at https://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/forum/index, announces a call for articles for a special issue to be published in the first semester of 2027, with the theme Active methodologies and language teaching.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers had to reorganize the format and approach of their classes, as in-person activities in schools were suspended to avoid the risk of coronavirus infection. From then on, students had virtual classes, and remote teaching was established in public and private institutions. During this period, the importance attributed to active methodologies in all school subjects, including language
classes, was notable.
However, beyond deciding to adopt active methodologies in their classes, language teachers must consider, in their suggestions, the proposal of teaching activities
that effectively promote student autonomy and, in addition, the construction of effective
active and meaningful learning, in which the learner plays a leading role in their studies.
For all the above reasons, we consider it appropriate to organize a dossier that includes works focused on active methodologies and language teaching, thus offering teachers a relevant contribution to the organization, preparation, and development of classes and courses. Therefore, this proposal is open to all linguistic and pedagogical sciences that are related in some way to the theme of this monographic issue.
Articles dealing with the following topics are particularly welcome for this dossier:
- Language teaching and the use of technology
- Pedagogical practices and language teaching contexts
- The student as the protagonist of the language learning/acquisition process
- Development and evaluation of language teaching materials
- Active methodologies and oral and written expression and comprehension
activities in an additional language
