Abstract

This paper starts with discussions presented in foucauldian archaeogenealogy about the sexual device. It aims at outlining a discourse analysis of Lampião da Esquina newspaper (the first gay publication of wide circulation in political urban centers), defending the hypothesis of a problematic production movement of categorizations from male homosexuality and subjects who take part of it. Initially, we present a vanguardist discursivity that takes place in Brazil in the seventies, based on the values of equality and symmetry. Thereafter, we describe the discursive division that Lampião da Esquina promotes regarding homosexual publications based on hierarching criteria. Lastly, we precede to the analysis of the Newspaper, pointing out its discursive strategies of transformation and positive assumption of a new homosexuality, the separation between a normal male and an effeminate "abnormality". KEYWORDS: male homosexuality; sexual device; Lampião da Esquina; hierarchy.
