From a psycholinguistic perspective, this paper aims to approach the research method about reading processing, focusing on the data collection instruments and techniques of two doctoral studies which investigate the relationship between metalanguage and reading, and between anaphoric processing and reading. The instruments and techniques selected for carrying out these researches - which are described here - are the following: reading comprehension test and acceptability judgment, verbal protocols, self-paced reading, and research diary.
