Abstract

In this paper, we focus on the phenomenon of the articulation of text constituents in actions in the context of professional training, to show that, in this context, this articulation is part of the interactional competence of the interlocutors (trainers and apprentices). For this, we seek contributions from the Geneva approach to the study of discourse organization. This approach allows an adequate approximation of such phenomenon, which involves interactional, multimodal and cognitive aspects. In this study, we analyzed sequences of interactions that took place in a masonry workshop, in which the trainer and three apprentice electricians participated. The interactions took place in 2005, in the canton of Geneva, Switzerland, and were produced in French. The analyzes showed that, in the context of professional training, discourse relations, such as reformulation, argument and counter-argument, allow interlocutors (trainers and apprentices) to articulate text constituents (acts and interventions) in actions. Acting in this way, apprentices and trainer actively collaborate in the training process.
