Junto, juntos, juntinhos and the like: semantic and morphosyntactic properties of an anti-distributive item in Brazilian Portuguese

In this paper, we analyze some morphosyntactic properties of ‘junto’ in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). In order to that, we first provide a brief introduction to the possible morphological variations and syntactic positions of the expression. In the second section, we revisit the work of Basso and Araújo (in press) on the possible interpretations that the ‘junto’ can have in BP. In the third section, we present a morphosyntactic analysis of ‘junto’ and investigate how its morphology and syntactic position can influence different readings for the sentences modified by the term. Finally, in the Conclusion, we summarize some conclusions and point out some of the open questions about the expression that deserve to be studied.
